Equity has released a new Member Guide to Recordings, designed to help artists clearly understand what engagers can—and cannot—ask when recording material under the Canadian Theatre Agreement (CTA) and Independent Theatre Agreement (ITA).
“A growing number of engagers are asking artists to participate in the creation of promotional materials for social media and websites,” said Alex Levine, Equity Executive Director. “Members should know that recording marketing content isn’t part of their CTA or ITA engagement, and engagers must negotiate an ACTRA contract to fairly compensate artists for this work.”
