Thursday, March 28, 2024, Equity and the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT) completed 15 days of scheduled negotiations for the Canadian Theatre Agreement (CTA). A deal has not yet been reached and Equity is presently waiting for PACT to confirm future bargaining dates.

"While many of the proposals brought forward by both sides have been resolved, there are still important matters that Equity has a responsibility to address. Among them are the interests of our director and choreographer members, the concerns of our underrepresented artists, and an increase in minimum fees that accurately reflects the current financial climate," said Arden R. Ryshpan, Equity Executive Director and Chief Negotiator.

“Given the significance of many of the issues being discussed, we’ve consistently maintained that 15 days would not be sufficient to conclude these negotiations, and our entire team is ready to get back to the table to find a deal that makes sense for everyone in our industry.”
