HAVEN Online Now Available
HAVEN Equity is pleased to announce the launch of HAVEN Online, a resource hub and online reporting platform for incidents of inappropriate behaviour in the workplace. Artists working on an Equity contract can use the HAVEN Online form to share information confidentially or anonymously with the Association, and request follow-up assistance from an Equity Respectful Workplace Advisor, if needed.

Developed in partnership with DGC and ACTRA, HAVEN Online replaces the HAVEN Helpline, an important service for addressing all forms of harassment, racism, and violence in the cultural industry since its launch in 2020. As Telus Health recently informed the three associations that they would no longer be able to provide incident reporting services via the HAVEN Helpline as of March 1, 2024, HAVEN Online was quickly developed as a new reporting tool to provide continuity of services to artists working across the country.

“We’re all responsible for creating and maintaining safe and respectful workplaces. While engagers and artists have an expectation to conduct themselves in a professional manner, Equity and our partners are committed to providing tools that affirm the principles of education, accountability, and supportive action. Zero tolerance of inappropriate behaviour is the cornerstone of Equity’s Not in OUR Space! program,” said Arden R. Ryshpan, Equity Executive Director. “HAVEN Online empowers arts workers to speak up for their rights, so that we can appropriately respond to unprofessional conduct in our rehearsal halls, on our stages, and anywhere else artists work.”

While HAVEN Online fills the role of a reporting platform, Equity continues to seek an affordable replacement for the counselling services originally provided through Telus Health.

Artists working on an Equity contract who have experienced or witnessed harassment, bullying, discrimination, or other forms of inappropriate behaviour and unprofessional conduct in a live performance workplace are encouraged to use the Equity HAVEN Online form to report the incident to Equity. It’s important to file a report as soon as possible so that Equity may provide support.

Please note: Equity is in the process of updating all Not In Our Space! and other communications materials with HAVEN Online's new information.
