    September 30 Marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day
    DOT September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

    The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation honours the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families, and their communities.

    Orange Shirt Day, an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day, is intended to recognize and raise awareness about the history and legacy of the residential school system in Canada.

    We encourage everyone to commemorate the lost children and Survivors of residential schools by wearing an orange shirt today and to take the time to acknowledge and better understand the history and harms done, explore the learning resources available, and participate in programs created and led by First Nations, Métis, and Inuit organizers.
