Extension to Filing Fees Expiration Period
Acknowledging the impact of the global pandemic and subsequent shutdown of the live performance industry, Equity will exclude the period of time from March 2020 to March 2022 in determining the three-year expiration date for filing fees credited towards the initiation fee, as per Bylaw 21 (A).

“Obviously, the pandemic has forced us to navigate a number of variances in the Bylaws and agreements over the past two years, such as extending the dues payment deadline and negotiating COVID-19 Addendums. This is clearly the definition of extenuating circumstances,” said Equity Executive Director, Arden R. Ryshpan.

“Now, more than ever, we need to do what we can to help our apprentices and other emerging artists continue in our industry, and to count the lack of work opportunities over the past two years against them would be simply unfair.”

The 24 months between March 2020 and March 2022 will not count towards the 3-year expiration deadline for any filing fees paid before or during the excluded period. For example, filing fees paid in June 2018 will only expire June 2023. And filing fees paid in November 2020 will only expire November 2024.
