Equity is proud to announce the release of a new Respectful Workplace Policy (RWP), affirming the Association’s resolute commitment to ensuring safe and respectful workplaces for members and anyone working under Equity’s contracts.

Available online, the RWP details the support measures, means of assistance, and resources provided by Equity in its efforts to prevent inappropriate behaviour in the workplace, respond promptly in the case of an incident, and empower artists to speak up on their behalf and on behalf of others without reprisal.

“Maintaining a respectful workplace is a collaborative effort involving engagers, Equity and its staff, as well as its members. We all need to be accountable, and we all need to be informed,” said Equity Executive Director, Arden R. Ryshpan. “Everyone benefits from having a membership that understands their rights, obligations, and the support they can expect from their Association.”

The new RWP marks the first in a series of amendments Equity is undertaking to revise and update its anti-harassment and disciplinary policies and materials, making them more streamlined and accessible for ease of use.

The Association would like to thank all the Equity members who volunteered their valuable time as part of the Council Task Force that developed the new RWP.
