Equity Updates its COVID-19 Workplace Guidelines & Protocols
The health and safety of Equity members continues to be of paramount importance to Equity. As such, we have updated our COVID-19 Workplace Guidelines & Protocols (version 3) to reflect changes to our work landscape in Canada.

The Guidelines & Protocols are in effect immediately, replacing version 2.

Changes to the Guidelines & Protocols include:
  • Exemptions and accommodations must be reasonable and feasible and may not place undue hardship on the engager, the performance venue, or other artists working on the production.
  • Engagers should communicate any vaccine mandate to artists at the earliest possible stage (i.e., job or audition notice, discussion or offer).
  • Engagers are encouraged to exceed provincial health and safety regulations.
  • Engagers are required to create a testing plan and plan in the event of a positive test.
  • Engagers are asked to share knowledge of having unvaccinated members in the company (in audition notices or in making an offer of engagement), so long as the information shared does not violate anyone’s privacy rights.
  • Artists may be subject to discipline for violating COVID-19 protocols.

  • Workplace health and safety falls under provincial jurisdiction, resulting in discrepancies in regulations and requirements between various provinces; therefore, Equity’s Workplace Guidelines & Protocols should be read alongside the most current provincial guidelines where you are working. Also, provincial guidelines are frequently changing, so engagers and members are required to monitor changes to their local guidelines and to adhere to requirements for the locale they are working within.
