Member Resolution at NAGM
For the first time in recent memory, a member resolution was brought forward at this year’s National Annual General Meeting and adopted for further discussion at Equity Council.

As the industry begins to reopen following the pandemic, the resolution spoke to the importance of ensuring artists are able to make informed decisions regarding health and safety measures in selecting work opportunities.

At the November Council meeting, the last of its term, Equity’s leadership reviewed the member resolution which seeks to revise to the COVID-19 Workplace Guidelines & Protocols to stipulate that:
  • Engagers must submit a comprehensive COVID-19 health and safety plan as well as any company vaccination policy in place.

  • Engagers should share knowledge of having unvaccinated members in the company (in audition notices or in making an offer of engagement), so long as the information shared does not violate anyone’s privacy rights.
"Member resolutions at the National AGM are rare, but they are an effective way to bring forward important issues for consideration by the membership. Thanks to Deena Aziz and Brett Watson, the members who submitted this one, and to those who attended the valuable discussion," said Equity President Scott Bellis.

Having been adopted by Council, these measures will be added to Equity's COVID-19 Workplace Guidelines & Protocols, which in conjunction with provincial and municipal occupational health and safety regulations, ensure engagers fulfill their responsibility to provide safe and sanitary conditions for all artists working under an Equity contract.
