At its online meeting on August 31, 2026, Equity Council approved an amendment to Bylaw 63(ii)(a), which governs changing disciplines on file with the Association.
Previously, an Equity member could only change their discipline on file after accumulating three engagements in that discipline. The amended bylaw now allows a member to change or add a discipline if they have:
- One engagement in that discipline under a negotiated or promulgated scale
- agreement; or
- Three engagements in that discipline under an engagement policy; and
- Satisfied any certification requirements that may apply for joining as a member within that discipline.
This amendment brings the criteria for changing disciplines in line with the criteria for joining in that discipline. It also recognizes the valuable experience gained through engagements under Equity’s engagement policies as valid experience for adding a new discipline.
Beginning September 22, members will also be able to select multiple disciplines for which they qualify.
