Equity is pleased to announce the appointment of Alma Sarai as an Ontario Councillor. Alma had been actively serving on a number Council Committees and will now join the Equity Council for the final year of its term. Her appointment comes following the resignation of Alethea Bakogeorge, who stepped down due to the challenges of managing her busy professional commitments alongside her Council responsibilities.

Alma Sarai Joins Equity Council
Alma Sarai is an actor, producer, and arts advocate based in Toronto, Hamilton and Burlington, ON. A proud graduate of the Theatre and Drama Studies program at the University of Toronto-Mississauga and Sheridan College, Alma has been active in the arts since the age of three—dancing, singing, improv, acting and general whimsy.
Always up for a challenge and to try something new, Alma hopes to advocate for strong leadership and leading with care. Practicing empathy, transparency and adaptability are at the core of her practice, and she looks forward to learning from her fellow Councillors, Equity members and the experience as a whole.
