Independent Theatre Agreement

The Independent Theatre Agreement (ITA) is a mirror of the Canadian Theatre Agreement (CTA), with some differences. The ITA is used by professional theatre companies across Canada that are not members of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT).

The current ITA expires June 20, 2027.

What does the ITA cover?

Provisions in the ITA include:

The Engager’s responsibility to ensure a safe and respectful workplace
The Artist’s responsibility to conduct themself professionally
Minimum fees and an Artist’s right to negotiate
Working conditions specific to each stage of the production process and to each artistic discipline
