SOTS is a member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres and engages artists under the Canadian Theatre Agreement. Anticipated Company Category E for the 2027 season. Submission Deadline: Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 5:00 pm (CST) Submission Details: To apply, please fill out the following submission form: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/iLMYKftjUU Please have your resume, headshot, and equity information (if applicable) ready to submit in this form. Audition Details: Only artists selected for an audition will be contacted with an appointment. SOTS AD Skye Brandon and The Tempest Director Kenn McLeod will both be present for the auditions. Audition Dates: October 24 and 25, 2026 Audition Location: John Mitchell Building, 118 Science Place, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Sides will be emailed when you book your audition. Preference will be given to Canadian Actors' Equity members, but we encourage non-Equity actors to submit. NOTE: only artists residing in Saskatoon will be considered at this time. Casting Breakdown
Twelfth Night Viola: a lady of Messaline, who is shipwrecked on the coast of Illyria. She is convinced that her twin brother Sebastian has drowned in the wreck, and for safety she disguises herself as a man, and seeks refuge at Orsino’s court. Olivia: an orphaned Countess who has sworn to remain in mourning for seven years after the recent death of her brother. Orsino: the Duke of Illyria. He is in love with Olivia, although those feelings are not reciprocated. Sir Toby: Olivia’s uncle, who relies on the hospitality of his niece, and the money of Sir Andrew, whom he is often in the company of. Sir Andrew: a guest at Olivia’s home at the invitation of Sir Toby. While there to woo Olivia, it is more accurate to say that Andrew is being used by Toby to pay for their shenanigans. Maria: Olivia’s waiting-gentlewoman. As a form of revenge, she comes up with a prank against Malvolio. Malvolio: Olivia’s steward. Bit of a puritan, who abhors disorder and drunkenness. Often at odds with Sir Toby and Feste. Sebastian: Viola’s twin brother. After the shipwreck, he is rescued by Antonio and eventually finds himself in Illyria. Feste: the Fool of Olivia’s household, who attempts to bring Olivia out of her melancholy. Is also familiar with Duke Orsino. A talented musician, as well as a master of wit. The Tempest Prospero: the deposed and rightful Duke of Milan. He is father to Miranda, whom was exiled with him. He seeks revenge for his brother's betrayal, and uses the magic of the island to shipwreck his enemies. Miranda: Prospero’s daughter. Though she has some vague memories of her time at court when she was very young, she has no real recollection of her life before being isolated on an island with no company but her father and Caliban. Ferdinand: King Alonso’s son. Cast up on the island alone after the wreck, he is convinced that his father has drowned and that he is the only survivor. He quickly meets Prospero and Miranda. Caliban: The son of the sorceress Sycorax, Caliban is the original inhabitant of the island (excluding the spirits) until Prospero and his infant daughter Miranda are cast ashore. Ariel: an airy spirit bound in service to Prospero and yearns for their release. Trinculo: King Alonso’s jester. A coward with a taste for finery as well as for liquor, and plans to help Stefano become king of the island. Stephano: King Alonso’s butler. Also has something of a taste for liquor, and is well-served when cast up on the shore with a vast amount of wine.

Project: 2027 Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival, which includes the mainstage productions of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and The Tempest. Join us in bringing the magic of Shakespeare to life this summer! Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival Inc. (SOTS) is a professional non-profit theatre company that has been producing Shakespeare and Shakespeare-inspired works on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River since 1985 at its outdoor festival location. For more than four decades, SOTS has contributed to Saskatoon’s cultural vitality by presenting bold, innovative productions led by skilled artists, powered by over a hundred community volunteers and supported by a dedicated staff team. Please note that SOTS uses a repertory model, and most actors will play multiple roles. SOTS supports a respectful and informed casting process. Any roles that are not identified at the time of contracting will be cast within the rules and principles outlined in the CTA 35:09 "Roles unassigned at time of contracting (casting by consent)." Production Dates: Rehearsal to begin in June 2027, with production running from mid-July to end of August 2027. Please note that dates will be confirmed at time of contract.
