Theatre Orangeville is a professional, not-for-profit, theatre company producing five main stage productions of Canadian plays and musicals as well as special concerts, presentations and young company productions throughout the full calendar year. Orangeville is located directly north of Brampton and is very commutable from Toronto.


Job Description & Requirements

The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the administrative, human resource and operational management of the theatre; will work with the Artistic Director to establish strategic and financial planning to support the theatre's continued artistic and financial growth and development; will work with the Finance Manager to support financial sustainability of the theatre and with the marketing department to oversee strategies to promote current productions, fundraising projects, sponsorships and theatre-related activities to establish community engagement and partnerships. This position reports to the Artistic Director, and will be accountable to the Board of Directors. Key Responsibilities . Oversee day-to-day operations including box office, staffing, scheduling, facility management, marketing strategies, and development . Prepare and manage operating budgets, ensuring financial stability and responsible resource allocation . Recruit, train and supervise administrative staff . Foster an honest, collaborative, inclusive and supportive work environment Engagement . Build strong relationships with local schools, organizations and service clubs to expand outreach . Develop educational programs, youth initiatives and volunteer opportunities . Provide mentorship and professional staff development opportunities Qualifications A Bachelor of Arts in Business or economics . Experience with professional live theatre production, arts administration and nonprofit management . Experience with the associations that govern the professional status and activities such as Canadian Actors Equity Association (CAEA) Ontario Arts Council (OAC)and Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT). . Negotiation and administration of employment contracts, playwright royalty contracts and Equity . Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills Desired Attributes . Passion for community engagement within the performing arts Compensation & Benefits . $30K based on 20 hours per week (commensurate with experience) . Flexible schedule with occasional evenings/weekends for performances and events as well as working remotely for two to three days of the week.
