Audition Information & Submission Instructions

We are heading into workshop for the development of a new play currently entitled, Glinda, The Witch, and the IKEA Dresser, by Jenny Morris. This is the first of two workshops in the development of this piece, ahead of our attempts to bring this show to a full production. Please send in PDF format a brief cover letter, headshot and resume to [email protected] with the header of the email titled “Workshop Actor Submission.” There is nothing to prepare. Sides will be provided, and this informal session will give the team a chance to get to know you. Actors will be engaged under the DOT policy.

Casting Breakdown

Wendy - 30-40 years old - a cis-gendered Caucasian woman. A key detail of this character is that "behind closed doors" they do not present as feminine, however when they go outside, they are skilled at pretending/wearing a mask. Lives with Bipolar 1, Autism, and experiences emotional dysregulation and executive functioning. LBGTQ+. Gilda - 30 + - open to all gender and sexuality presentations under the LGBTQ+ umbrella. Preference is for diversity in this role. Proper representation in casting is important to us. We are seeking actors who identify as LBGTQ+ and we welcome actors who identify with or have experience with neurodivergence.

Accessibility Information

Stage to Page is an interdisciplinary organization that explores innovative ways to support the development of spoken word, theatre, dance, new media, and literary arts. Stage to Page values artistic excellence, sustainability for artists, and community-building through the lens of decolonization, accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are mindful of the stories we share, the stories we bring, the stories we erase, and hope to create a space where our stories can meet. Stage to Page was founded and established on unceded traditional and ancestral homelands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. About the Show: The heroine Wendy is a woman at a crossroads. She's 36, her prince charming turned out to be a fraud and she's no closer to her dream of having a baby. She also lives with Bipolar 1, Autism and experiences emotional dysregulation and executive functioning challenges that can hit her like a tidal wave. Helping her along in her journey is an inner-voice, Gilda, who can shapeshift into other people such as her helper, her manager, her biggest fan, the firefighter who shuts down hard emotions through substance use and is, in glimpses, the most vulnerable part of Wendy (using the non-judgemental IFS model of "no bad parts") Gilda wants to free herself and be a star (she has loved musical theatre ever since Wendy was a child) but first she needs Wendy to stop settling in her life. Gilda is a sassy, bossy girl who dreams of a life of leisure. If only she could get Wendy to come to bed and take care of herself for once...together, they conquer their final challenge: building an IKEA dresser all alone and even though she sucks with power tools, she learns to how to parent herself and set Gilda free. We are auditioning for the roles of Gilda and Wendy. Gilda also plays other roles in the show. The date for the first workshop is November 20th, 2026. While we appreciate all who submit, we are only accepting local artists at this time, and only those who are selected for the audition will be contacted.

Ethnocultural Mandate

Stage to Page is committed to fair and equitable casting. We believe in representation, parity, and inclusion on and off stage. We seek to engage artists from diverse backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences where appropriate. We recognize that many artists face barriers to being seen, and there are still issues of lack of representation, and misrepresentation on stage. Beyond casting, we also are committed to learning and improving so that we can decolonize and create a more inclusive and equitable process.

Equity does not endorse eDrive notices and only reviews information provided as is represented by the applicable agreement or policy.
