Audition Information & Submission Instructions

Theatre Northwest is accepting submissions for our 2027 production of Liars At A Funeral by Sophia Fabiilli, directed by Joshua Beaudry. Auditions will be held in person, in Prince George BC on October 9th, 2026. As provided for in clause 8:06(V) of the Independent Theatre Agreement, and to improve accessibility for artists located outside of Northern BC, we will accept self-tapes to accommodate artists who are not able to attend in person. HOW TO SUBMIT: Please email audition requests to [email protected] with the subject line "Liars at a Funeral Auditions" Please send ONE (1) PDF file with your 1) headshot 2) current resume We thank everyone for their submissions but at this time we are only able to hire artists based in Western Canada. If you have not heard back from us by October 2nd, it means we will not be able to see you for an audition this time around.


Casting Breakdown

CHARACTERS: Mavis: The sharp and unhinged family matriarch who fakes her own death and funeral to force her estranged family into the same room. AGE: 60s to 70s Evelyn: Mavis’s daughter who arrives at the funeral home carrying guilt over a bad parting with her mother. AGE: 40s to 50s Wayne: Evelyn’s pushy, heavy-drinking companion who comes to give her moral support and ends up tasked with distracting the funeral director. AGE: 40s to 50s Frank: Evelyn’s ex-husband who shows up to add to the chaotic mix of misunderstandings. (Note: will be played by same actor as Wayne) AGE: 40s to 50s Dee Dee & Mia: Evelyn's estranged twin daughters. Dee Dee is the introvert (previously cast as the Gravedigger in a high school Hamlet production by Mia), and Mia is the extrovert. (Note:will be played by the same actor). AGE: Late 20s Cam: Mia’s oddly strange, lively partner who prefers hugging over shaking hands. AGE: Late 20s Leorah: The form-fitting, sly, and sex-craved Funeral Home Director who keeps strict tabs on her establishment. (Note: will be played by same actor as Evelyn) AGE: 40s to 50s Quint: Leorah’s awkward, insecure assistant who is nervous about running the funeral properly and has a soft spot for Dee Dee. (Note: will be played by the same actor as Cam) AGE: Late 20s

ABOUT THE SHOW: Liars at a Funeral is a raucous farce bursting with eccentric characters, witty banter, hidden identities, and irreverent humour that will make you laugh at life, death, and family. When an estranged family gathers to mourn the passing of their matriarch, the funeral erupts into more of a dysfunctional reunion than any of them could predict. Secrets unravel, long-buried truths emerge, a family curse keeps siblings apart, and—surprise!—it turns out grandma has exaggerated her demise in a last-ditch attempt to get the whole wild and woolly clan together under the same roof. PRODUCTION DATES: February 11th to March 3rd, 2027 POSSIBLE EXTENSION TO March 10th Rehearsals begin January 21st, 2027 Please be advised that the production design may require artists to modify their hairstyles. Any costs associated with these requests will be reimbursed by the theatre. However, artists will need to cover the costs of concealing any visible tattoos.
