ITA COVID-19 Addendums updated
Equity is pleased to announce revised terms of the Independent Theatre Agreement (ITA) COVID-19 Addendum, in effect immediately. As a mirror agreement of the Canadian Theatre Agreement (CTA), the ITA COVID-19 Addendum has been correspondingly amended to match the recently agreed to terms of the CTA Addendum.

“As we have in the CTA, we’ve adjusted the ITA’s COVID-19 Addendum to continue providing suitable health and safety standards for our performers while helping to encourage the return of theatre production,” says Equity Executive Director, Arden R. Ryshpan.

Highlights of amendments to the Addendum include:
  • Clarification that payment for absence or injury would also apply in the event that an artist is required by municipal or provincial health authorities to self-isolate or quarantine.

  • Increasing a stage manager’s prep days to two if a production, suspended as a result of the pandemic, is able to resume with the same stage manager.

  • Requiring an engager with a vaccination policy to provide said policy, in addition to their health and safety protocol, to Equity.

  • Restricting engagers from requiring a self-choreographed dance or movement sequence during a recorded audition.

  • The ability for a theatre or a region to return to using the Addendum if provincial restrictions are reimposed.
“Given the ever-evolving situation, we understand that this Addendum has to be a living document that will continue to evolve as regulations change and our industry reopens for business,” continues Ryshpan.
