Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Governor General Mary Simon yesterday asking her to dissolve Parliament and trigger a Federal election on September 20.

With only 36 days for the election campaign, there are some key steps Equity encourages our members to do right away in order to be ready to cast your vote:

Voter Registration: check or update your voter registration on the Elections Canada website to ensure you are able to cast your vote.

Campaign Platforms: familiarize yourself with the various parties’ election platforms so you can make an informed choice at the ballot box:

• Liberal Party of Canada
• Conservative Party of Canada
• New Democrat Party
• Green Party of Canada
• Bloc Québécois
• People’s Party of Canada

Get Active: now is the time to make the needs of our sector heard to the various parties. Watch the Grassroots Lobbying member information session Equity hosted in March. Our guests from leading government relations consultancy Temple Scott Associates gave a lot of great advice about how to get active at the grassroots level during the Federal election – including some excellent advice on using social media in an election.
