Notice to Members Regarding Outcome of Recent Disciplinary Complaints
Equity's National Council is publishing this notice to the membership in accordance with Bylaw 81. The intention of this bylaw is to ensure that members are informed about actions resulting from Disciplinary Complaints, as part of Council’s efforts to maintain safe and respectful workspaces for our members.

A formal complaint was brought against a member for alleged behaviour, contrary to Equity’s Standards of Professional Conduct, on the grounds of bullying and harassment. Following an investigation by an independent party, the complaint was dismissed by the Disciplinary Panel. No appeal was filed following the Panel's decision.

A separate formal complaint was brought against a member for alleged behaviour contrary to Equity’s Standards of Professional Conduct, on the grounds of bullying and harassment. Following an investigation by an independent party, the parties involved agreed to a restorative remedy to resolve the matter.

Council would like to remind all members that they have a right to a workplace that ensures their safety, their dignity, and their creativity. Since the launch of the Not in OUR Space! campaign, Council and Equity staff have worked diligently to ensure that members have these protections in place, and we are committed to the continued development and ongoing improvement of these protections. Engagers large and small are required to have up to date Harassment Policies and provide information regarding reporting incidents of harassment. Equity wants to encourage any member who is or has experienced harassment in the workplace to call the HAVEN Helpline (1-855-201-7823) for immediate assistance.

Equity’s Standards of Professional Conduct and the Disciplinary Process are available in our Constitution and Bylaws (see Bylaws 34 to 81).
