How Equity is governed

Equity is a democratically structured organization run by artists for artists. It is entirely self-supporting, funded by members' initiation fees and dues. Equity is the united voice of its members, and its strength lies in the collective support given by its members to its members.
The government of Equity is vested in a national Council of 22 members from across Canada. The number of Councillors from each region is proportional to the number of members in each region. The current Council is elected for a three-year term beginning November 2012 and lasting until November 2015.

Equity's national Council uses "Policy Governance" as the operating structure of the Association. Click here for further information on Equity's governing structure.

Three Council meetings per year are face-to-face, and seven more are conducted by telephone conference call.
