Founded in 1968 by director/playwright Walter Learning, who later was AD at Vancouver Playhouse from 1983-87, and returned to TNB from 1995-99. Learning and Alden Nowlan created a number of new plays at TNB which were very successful in other parts of the country as well. Other ADs over the years included Malcolm Black, Janet Amos, Sharon Pollock (actor/director/ playwright) and David Sherren. Director Ted Follows is a founding member of the Neptune Theatre and is a well known performer; Martin Bragg has been AD of Canadian Stage since 1996.
